Off-Topic: How long does it take to get a new indian passport?

Hey guys,

This is in all probability not the right place to ask this (puts flame suit on), but I'm guessing someone might have been in my boat, so here goes. I've applied for a new indian passport as my old one is expiring soon. I've sent in all the documents by mail to the Indian Consulate in SF and they received it a couple of weeks ago. How long does it typically take to get the new passport?

If you go by person, you will get it in the same day. If you send by post, according to their web site, it says five buisiness days.

You said you sent a couple of weeks ago. Something is not right?

he he he you so much wanted to avoid somebody telling this to you....well i thought I will just say it :)))))) just for fun.. :)


well i am in the same situation...have to get a duplicated one. what papers you sent along. and did u get a color phot copy of all the pages before sending it for renewal.
also what happens to all the "live" visas ont he old passport and if u have a green card the I551 stamp. u can never get rid of your old passport i guess??
