My as-yet-incomplete I-485 saga is described by the LUD changes in my signature. What I've realized, after speaking to a TSC IO today, is that the LUD can change even if no one in TSC (where my file is) is working on it. In other words, since the case status comes from a central database, other actions can change the LUD even though no one in TSC has done anything to the file. Conversely, just because there is no change in LUD doesn't mean TSC hasn't had any updates on the case.
Case in point:
I had done FP (Code 1) on 7/6, and got LUD changes on 7/6 and 7/7. These were presumably owing to updates by the local ASC and FBI results. However, the actual FP results were uploaded/updated in the TSC system on 7/10 (according to IO), without an LUD change.
I had done FP (Code 2) on 7/13, and got LUD changes on 7/13 and 7/14. However, the biometrics haven't been uploaded into TSC yet.
As for this whole "upload" business, when I went for my last FP, I asked the person at the ASC who was responsible for doing the FPs and Biometrics about what "uploading" means. She tried to answer, and I tried to understand what I could, so there's a lot of vagueness here. In any case, here's what she said (and I'm paraphrasing):
'The FBI results from the FP go into one database. The TSC database is different, though. Periodically, the TSC database connects to this FBI database and syncs up FP results. This can take up to a week sometimes."
In other words, I shouldn't expect the results from FBI to be in TSC the same day that FBI returns them. I've seen this borne out by various testimonials here in the forum.
Of course, there were a lot of things I wanted to ask the lady at the ASC, however I felt I had intruded enough on her time and she had other things to do. She was very helpful and patient (as was everyone else I spoke to at the ASC), and I didn't want to be an agent of change in that attitude.
Anyway, just my 2c.
