Dear All,
I am a silent visitor to this site which helped me all the way till the end of the saga.

Here is our whole process:
In Nov'00 we applied for labour.
Oct'01 applied for 485. In Jan'02 I got laid off from the sponsering company. From there started troubles, Applied for a new H1(Though I got the EAD) as per lawyer suggestions. Wasted lot of money for lawyers,generating paystubs etc etc.
In Jun I got a job with 10% less salary in a different place. So maintained the same old adress officially and managed till date never informed INS about job change. On March 27th we got approved and our passports are stamped yesterday 04/07/03 at Newark. Whole process didn't took much time but we till the end of the process tension tension........never used AP, Both me&spouse used EAD.

Thanks everyone for giving a whole lot information. This site is the only thing which made me relax when I was in pressure/stress.

Quick question, did you used EAD at any time before you switched the company or used it only after getting the new h1 from the new company.....
 
Used EAD only after getting new H1 actually it doesn't matter, I waited to to finish my 180 days totake a new job offer with EAD

When you accepted new job you asked the new employer to apply for H1-H1 Transfer ? or Was it a new H1B petition ?

Why not start employment with the new employer with your EAD ?

Why did you have to maintain your Old Address ?

Are you in valid status while you were Job Hunting ?

I applied new H1b with one my frnds company as I was out of job at that moment 485 approvals are fast I thought if at all my approval comes anytime I should be able to show emp letter and paystubs,I didn't used my EAD at that time coz once u use EAD we cannot come back to H1 if some thing happens with our 485.Just I played a safe game............nothing more than that :(

Why not start employment with the new employer with your EAD ?

after finishing my 6 months of filing 485 I used my EAD with present employer

Why did you have to maintain your Old Address ?
Just not to take risk coz some of my frnds though they changed the address by filing AR-11 forms they got all their letters to old address

yep I coz I applied for a new H1( and alsoI had the EAD)
