Hi friends,
Eventually my day also came. I would like to share the details of my journey through this saga and I hope it would keep everyone's hopes high:
Labor filed in Sep 2000, approved in October 2000.
I-140 filed in November 2000. Had to wait for 7 months for approval as INS completely stopped I-140 processing during that time.
I-140 approved in June 2000, it was approved for CP even though I hadn't opted for it. Decided to go for I-485, at the time of last entry to US, the immigration officer had written different arrival dates on I-94 and the passport, I was afraid it might be an issue, but went ahead and sent all the papers in July 2001. The 485 file was messed up somehow and had to followup endelessly with the employer and lawyer for 2 months. Finally got RD of Oct 25, ND of Dec 03, 2001. Got the first EAD also.
Did the first FP in Feb 2002.
Applied for first AP in March 2002, and got it in April 2002.
Changed job, moved from VSC to TSC exactly after 6 months of filing I-485. Notified change of address in July 2002. But didn't inform about job change. In the meantime the attorney on the file moved out of the company she used to work for. I was hoping that there wouldn't be a situation that I would be caught up between this.
2nd EAD in August 2002.
2nd AP in February 2003.
2nd FP in July 2003.
3rd EAD in August 2003.
RFE(for employment letter, W2 and 2 months paystub) on Aug 26 2003
Had to pay $$$$ to the old lawyers company to get the RFE details. Didn't change the attorney and decided to send the RFE through the old lawyer company.
RFE response received on October 2003. I was bracing for a transfer after all this.
Went to visit India in November 2003, returned on Dec7 2003. While driving home from the airport checked the case status on the phone and found that both me and spouse were approved on November 21, 2003.
But when I checked my mails I found approval notice and 3rd FP notice(which btw mentioned that it could be ignored if the application has already been granted). Called BCIS 1800 # and was told to ignore it.
Went to Dallas local BCIS office today and got the passport stamped(was in the line at 8:00 am and was out of that place by 10:30 am).
One question: I was told by the officer who stamped the passport that the plastic card would take between 6 months to 1 year. Has anyone been to this office and know how long did it take to get the plastic ?
Thanks for bearing with my story. All the best for everyone's speedy approval.
Regards
