OCI: staying in India for more than 6 months

My 1.5 yr old son is currently in India. It will be 6 months this month. Do we need to register him in a police station? I heard somewhere that kids under 14 yrs are not required to register. Is this true? If registration is needed, can someone tell what the process is? Thanks.

EDIT: My son is actually on PIO and not OCI. sorry for the typo. It wont letme change the subject.

Your son does not need to be registered with FRRO. Children under 16 years are exempt from registration on any visa status. See the Bureau of Immigration FAQ link below:
