OCI/PIO for children - defer?

Hello,
My wife and I have our naturalization interview on Monday and want to apply for OCI asap after that.

However, one of our two daughters is in India with parents. We are R2I-ing later this year. I heard that the form requires a thumbprint for each child.

I was wondering, since NRI children need not be registered with local police etc. in India ... is there any hard requirement that their OCI (or PIO) cannot wait till we are back in India?

In other words, is it worth it scrambling to get a blank form with our little one's thumbprint fedexed by the grandparents from India.

Thanks for your help,
Manish

Here is my response on the thumb print part of your question.

You don't need thumb print of a minor to apply for OCI. I am positive about this. I applied for my son without the thumb print after confirmation from CGI,NY that minor's don't need thumb prints on the OCI application.

Just make sure you do not put your signature in the square box at the top of the first page of Form A and put your signature at the end of the application where there is space for the parent of the minor to sign on behalf of the minor.

Good luck.
