OCI Collection from Travisa - NewYork

I had to withdraw my son's passport during his OCI process since we were traveling abroad. I was told to send the passport back once we get back to USA.

My son's OCI has been approved by the time we got back to USA. I sent his passport along with the status page indicating that the passport has been recieved by CGI NewYork. For the past one week, I am seeing the following status on the Travisa website for my son.

Additional documents have been received. It may take several days before further action is displayed.

What does this mean?. Does this mean that the passport has been sent to the Consulate for stamping and collection of OCI documents?.

It means Travisia recived the passport, and is still with them.
You should see an update when they transfer the documents to the Consulate in the next few days.

From my experience Travisa does a good job , and keeps the status updated.

My son's OCI was approved on July 15. I sent his passport for collection of OCI documents on August 8th once we returned from overseas. There has been no updates from Travisa and I called them today morning. They told me that they have not sent the passport for OCI collection as they have not recieved an email from the Consulate indicating that the passport is needed for OCI collection. I asked them if they could contact the Consulate in this regard and they mentioned that it was not their job to do so and that they will send the passport to the Consulate only after they recieve the email from the Consulate. The agent also mentioned that I was open to contact the Consulate directly about this request. I had sent Travisa a copy of the printout from the status page indicating that the passport was recieved at CGI NewYork.

Anyone else in this situation?What should I do?.

I do understand that you pulled out your son's Passport while the OCI application was being processed, for travel reasons. I'm not sure how Consulate would have handled the temporary break, and then resumed it when you returned back. Travisa will only send in the passport when the Consulate asks for the same ( maybe some sort of batch system in place), so in short the Consulate needs to resume work on this case.

1. Try to check the status of your son's OCI on the OCI Enquiry form, and check if it has any update.
2. Attempt to reach out directly to the Consulate by letter/email and explain the details - provide all relevant info (travisa order no, passport no, oci acknowledgement no etc.)
3. See if sending an email with an request of your son's case draws any attention . ( shettybn AT nic.in). Many have got updates on their case from here.

Thanks for the information. I contacted the Consulate last week and they sent an email to Travisa after which the passport was dispatched to the Consulate. Recieved an email from Travisa on Friday (08/26) that the passport has been shipped. Fedex did not pick this up on Friday and Travisa NewYork is closed today. Dont know if Fedex will pick it up today or the pickup will be tomorrow.
