OCI and work in India: Any first-hand experiences?

Hi all,

Is there anyone in the community who has taken the OCI card, and then has settled back in India with the intention of living and working in India? I'm into software, but with the article that appeared in India Abroad (rediff) below, I'm having doubts if I should apply for OCI or even take up US Citizenship for that matter and renounce the Indian Passport.

Any comments?

To add to the above post..

to put things in perspective about where I stand now: I have already applied for US Citizenship, and am due for an interview end of this month. When I started the Citizenship application, it was my intention to apply for OCI card for my family including my US born kids, and then if I do desire to go back to India for good, I have the option to come back to US if things don't work out for me

OCI was the first step towards legalisation of Indian Origin people (recall it took a while to get there). They are resolving the glitches associated with OCI. It is not the ideal one. As more stories comes out, they will fix it. "doctors can work rule" will come out anyday now before 2008.
it takes a while to get close to equal rights with NRI. because we decided to go with some other passport in the first place. :D
But you can get your indian citizenship back if you are on OCI for five years and stay in india for one year. so there is enough room to accomodate your rquirement. you have to give up one thing to get another(always).OCI is very certainly one step forward.
