Occupation question

Hi

When I filled my labor certification, the job describtion is Software engineer and I -140 also came through. Now, I am applying I485. There is one column about current occupation. My current occupation is Programmer analyst. What should I write in I-485?

What I think is, "software engineer" should be a general category whether you are senior programmer, programmer analyst etc. Make sure you put the same as in the labour. Make sure you specify the same even when RFE are issued for employment letter. Just a suggestion, may be gurus can help.

The less you confuse the INS is better. For us those designations may mean similar things. But for INS they may look different and raise questions. How do you know your current designation is Programmer/Analyst ? Have you got a letter from your employer like an employement letter that says it ? If not, then just go by whatever your labor says. If necessary, ask your company to change your designation.
