Obtaining US citizenship while living abroad

My wife and I have had our green card for 3 years and we are looking at moving back to India due to family reasons.
(i) Under what circumstances can we move back to India and still keep our green card active? Would this require us to spend at least 6 months in the US?
(ii) Can we still acquire US citizenship while living in India? Would it help if both of us worked for a subsidiary of a US company in India?

Appreciate your response to these questions.

You are moving back to India because of family reasons. And then why do you want to become a US Citizen? LOL.

YOu have to stay in the district you are filing from, for 3 months minimum before filing a N400. FYI, you need to inform the USCIS with a form AR-11 whenever you move. So if you move out of the country, there will be clear red signal on your A#.

My one rupee (= 2 cents now).
