Obtaining Travel visa after given up GC

My parents have obtained family-base GC. They are currently outside of US for almost one year and deciding whether they still want to keep the GC. THey don't plan on living in US tho. So if they give up GC (by staying outside of US for more than a year), will they have trouble obtaining travel visa to US in the future? Anyone w/ experience trying to obtain travel visa after given up the GC?

I have not find many threads on this. Any pointer? Thanks in advance.

If they officially surrender the card at a consulate with the I-407 process before it is forcibly revoked, it shouldn't be a problem for them to get a tourist visa. They may even be able to do both in the same visit to the consulate.
