Obtaining surrender certificate

I came to USA in 1988 as a student, obtained my green card in 1993, and became a naturialized citizen in 1998. Recently I wanted to apply for OCI card. I realized to my horror that I have lost my expired Indian passport along with many copies of I-485, I-400 and so on .. My state is so bad that I don't even have the details of Indian passport. All I have a valid US passport, birth certificate and college certificates etc.. Can you please give me advice me about how I can get copies of any of the old documents, and satisfy the requirements to obtain surrender certificate. I am willing to pay the needed penalty. It is a crazy situation for me?

Thanks

If you lost passport, you have to file a police report to get surrender cert, you will have to pay 20 dollars . You will need a copy of the passport though for this.
Best way is to email Indian consulate and ask their advise.

I think they as in Indian Consulate insist on you providing them details of the passport-- date issued, place.. and importantly Passport number. Else no surrender certificate.

check with lawyer or your employer who processed your green card. I think you can also request your all immigration documents from USCIS. Freedom act or something like that?
