Obtaining INS reciept number

My employer's policy is not to provide the INS reciept numbers for any application; be it LCA, I140 or I-485. (Some wierd reason ) I cannot use the online INS case status to track my case and its frustrating. Is it possible to obtain the I-140/ I-485 receipt numbers (SRC#) using the A# from my EAD card?

Any pointers appreciated.

The I-485 is YOUR filing. If you filed a request under the Freedom of Information Act, you would get a copy of the I-485 filing. You probably would not get the I-140 without authorization from the employer.
