Hi all,

Had my oath at Fort Smith DO on Friday.
Small and simple ceremony. There were around 25 people from various countries.

Ceremony was scheduled for 2.30 pm but didn't start till 3.30 pm as there was another Oath ceremony nearby. Officials juggling between ceremonies.
We were handed a packet comprising president's message and passport form. Yes guys we had to read the message rather than hear as in this area that's how DO works :)

During the ceremony we took the oath and then certificates were handed over to us.

Ceremony lasted 15 minutes.
Overall short ceremony to conclude a long journey.

True. Sometimes it's hard to predict how USCIS is going to perform.
I heard from a friend who applied in July last year at Fort Smith, they are still waiting for oath. I guess we were lucky.

Fort Smith DO had two oath ceremonies on last Friday.
The Director told us. One at Court house and one at DO.
They are still clearing some July backlogs thru Court house oath ceremonies.
Court house has more people capacity. DO barely 25. That's what we had.

Last summer we were back there and almost filed at good old FS DO but were afraid that even if they processed the app faster, there might only be 2 or 3 Oath ceremonies a year. A friend told us it was taking over a year to get citizenship. Apparently she was wrong. After reading your posts about the speed at that office we have been considering going back there again. But the story about your friend is a little bit scary. Have they had their interview yet? Do you know if they are stuck in the FBI name check?

I know of two friends.
Family 1 filed last year during july 07 load. Husband finished his oath in April 08.
Wife waiting for oath.

Family 2 filed 2-3 years ago. No '07 workload issue.
This is a unique case as husband's name is in FBI name check. Wife got citizenship after 1 year of filling. Husband still stuck.

I guess for you or anyone filing now in Fort Smith DO should be a smooth sail provided you don't get stuck in name clearance etc.
