Oath Completed 2/26 Passport Applied

I have completed the my Oath today! I am now a US citizen. I applied for expedited passport. They said it's going to take two weeks. You sign your full name in a cursive way. both on the Oath letter and the naturalization certificate. Thanks to everyone in this forum. I will be happy to answer your question.
 
It was a very interesting occasion. 141 People from 32 different countries. We were scheduled to be there at 8AM but due to the weather condition the program did not start till 9AM. We were all checked in by 8.45AM. I was worried about my traffic ticket but it turned out not be a problem. I gave the IO my court disposition, the lady was asking me questions but her supervisor said it's ok.

We were given a letter from the president congratulating us for our citizenship. Other documents were also given to us (voter registration, constitution amendments etc). The Judge was very friendly with us and funny as well. He told us about the benefits of being a US Citizen and performed the Oath and Pledge of Allegiance. He asked us to congratulate each other. Everyone was very happy. After the program, I ran to Kinkos to copy my Certificate, I later went to Post office to apply for my passport. The lady said it should come in the mail in about 2 weeks!! I'm just so happy it's finally over!!!!!!!!!
 
Ok to photocopy government documents?

Congrats! 2 years is a long time! It looks like you have been very patient with the USCIS.

I have my wife's and my oath ceremony scheduled for March 13, in about 2 weeks, so I know that feeling of relief you must have. (Although ours took only about 7 months and 20 days)

By the way, do you know how long regular passport processing takes? (Non expedited). Just thought you may have asked this from the post office....

Just an FYI.... I don't know if its legal to photocopy a naturalization certificate..... Certain government documents I believe are not permitted to be copied. I think its a small issue.

How about a passport? Is it ok to photocopy a passport? (I know I have photocopied my own passport several times, for proof of citizenship, identity, etc., but just thought I would ask)
 
From what I heard, a black and white copy is okay and the notary only confirms that it's a copy of the original.

Everyone would make copies for their own records just in case of an emergency.

I doubt however that you can use the copies for anything meaningful as the originals are always needed.

It's ok to make photocopies of your naturalization certificate since you will be submitting the original with the passport application. Infact we were told at our oath ceremony in Atlanta to make a photocopy of our naturalization certificate for our records, so it's ok.

Now talking about the processing time for regular passport service. It will take anywhere from 2-3 weeks. Both my kids got their passports in 2 weeks. Mine took 3 weeks. I had applied in the second week of January this year. If you are not in a rush to travel, I wouldn't spend extra $60 bucks just to save 10 days. Plus you can track it online and call their customer service until 10pm to get status update & track your passport.
 
I Agree with Atlanta Brother. You have the authority to copy your certificate. I did the copies before going to post office
 
I did not get a chance to talk to a lot of people but the IO mentioned the most of us in the Oath ceremony completed interview in the last 2 to 3 weeks. He expects them answer "NO" to all questions on the back of the N-445. I have to answer "YES" to the travelling out of country and a traffic ticket.
