O 1 visa and travel

This post is intended for O1 visa holders. There was a lot of confusion on this issue when I was searching so thought I'd post here for future reference.

When you move from company A to company B while on O1 visa, unlike H1 , it is not a transfer but a fresh visa and you have to wait to start working till your approval notice comes through. The question is whether we can travel on the old valid visa stamp issued in company A's name when working for company B.
The answer is yes, you can as long as you show your original approval notice for company B at the POE. For safety, carry new employment letter and recent paystubs of new employer. I was also carrying a copy of my I 129 petition. I was a little nervous as no one had any experience on a O1 visa (though very common for H1s). At the POE, it was a breeze and my company attorney did say it should be OK.
Now that I am back from my trip, I am all set to apply for 485, which, to me, seems like the biggest blackhole.
