O-1 lay off, transfer issues

As an O-1 visa holder for 18 months, I was laid off.

If I get a similar scientist position offer from another company, can I stay with current stamp (valid for another 18 months) or should I apply for O-1 visa again?

I have exactly the same question. Did u find an answer. My husband got laid off today and somebody totld me that we have to leave the country right away.... But we have to organize the move, sell the car etc.

I would be weary of any company that seems to be making a business out of sponsoring people. It looks like you may need a new visa for a new employer. More info can be found here: http://oisss.unc.edu/academic_staff/o.html
