485 approved on 8/10/00. got the copy in the mail on 8/17/00 and went to Javits center Federal plaza bldg in NYC. Reached around
10.15 and thanks to the wonderful signs (none) we went up to the 10th floor as the letter asks us to, which sends us to the 8th floor and then to the first floor and finally to the end of a que with some 200 people ahead of us. We live about 2.5 hours away from the city and
looking at the line we thought we will be asked to come back!
Our turn came at 2.15 p.m. ...we were asked our passports and the copy of the letter and two adit style photos....and to sign and get fingerprinted for the plastic card. 6-9 months was the time given!!! took about 7 mins for both of us!
Anyway, its over! unpleasant 5.5 years later....
If you have to go to nyc, make sure you carry lunch and some water, because you dont know how long you have to wait!!! atleast 3-4 hours!
