NVC question

Hello

When I call the National Visa Center to check the status of my
application it says that I have indicated that I want to file
for adjustment of status with my local CIS office and that
the NVC will hold my papers until they are requested by the CIS.
Does that mean that I have to send my adjustment of status
papers to my local CIS office to continue the immigration process
or will the NVC send me a notice that I have to do so?
My lawyer is no help at all, so I have to find out for my self what to
do next.

Thank you

That's what I told my lawyer but he just doesn't want to listen, I think I'm going to fill out the forms myself and just mail them. thanks for your response.

I-485

My I-130 was approved on 2/3/05 by NBC and it said the same thing. The I-485 says a complete an approval notice or an complete relative if approved that will make a visa number immediately avaiable. Are you a spouse of a US citenzen, what is your status. I filed my I-485 to NBC on 2/28/05 and got a NOA on 3/26/05. Set appoitment date for biometics and fingerprint for 4/25/05. I am here on a K3 visa. You don't need a lawyer. They will take all your money and they cannot speed up the process. When I sent my I-485 package the approval ntoice for the I-130 was not included in the package. And my case was accepted by NBC. I talk with an Immigration officer at my local INS office and they told me I didn't have to wait for the I-130 to get approved as long as I enter the US in a legal status and was inspected by a immigration officer. I wait 2 years for nothing because I thought like you did and waited for my I-130 to get approved. When you send you I-485 just mention that you I-130 was approved and attached a copy of you I-130 reciept showing that you have one pending. Don't worry about I was in the same boat. GET RID OF YOUR LAYWER ALL THEY DO IS PICK UP THE PHONE AND ASK THE NCSC THE SAME QUESTION AS YOU. The NCSC their reps. are stupid too. If you get luck at the 1-800-375-5283 you might get an Immigration Officer but you have to have a good reason for talking to one. File you I-485 now or you will regret later like I did.

If you have any question write me back. Send a letter to NBC to the Director and ask for the I-130 approval notice like I did, It only took 6 weeks for me to get one after writing them every 10 days. But it turned out I did not need the I-130 approval notice to file my I-485. One more thing everything goes to NBC in Chicago now, if you file at your local USCIS office they will in turn send it back to you a month later and tell you to file at NBC Chicago or they will transferred your case to NBC which will take longer than if you sent it to them directly.

YOUR LAYWER IS STUPID AND DON;T GIVE HIM ANY MORE MONEY. GIVE IT TO ME IF YOU WANT TO THROW AWAY YOUR MONEY AND I WILL CHARE YOU HALF OF WHAT HE IS CHARGEING TO FILL OUT THE I-485 FORMS.

thanks for your answer. I'm an unmarried son over 21 of a us citizen.
my I130 was approved a long time ago and I'm in the first preference
category. The NVC passed my priority date in january, that's why
I couldn't file my adjustment of status yet. I'm going to get
everything ready this week so I can mail my I485 next week.

Thank you
Alain
