NVC issues - please reply

My I-140 was approved on 8/28. When I try the number for NVC, the 140 receipt number still does not show up. Is this normal?

How long does it usually take for the 140 approval to reach NVC? I am from the Nebraska Service Center.

Also, does NVC entertain calls from the beneficiary, or does the attorney/company have to call here for status also?

Thanks in advance for any replies,

Aishwarya

That's normal. Call NVC during working hours and try to reach an operator - he/she can help you. I did the same stuff and well, I don't know how long they generally take to update their DB with I-140 receipt etc. And yes, they do entertain the benificiary.
cheers!!

How to reach an operator??

How does one reach an NVC operator? The "usual" method seems to be to input a wrong case number.... but this leads to a message saying "press 0 for operator". And if one presses 0, nothing happens! Usually, I hear one click after this, and then get disconnected.... :(

I notice several people here mentioning that they spoke to an operator... and I was wondering how they did this?!

Thanks for any suggestions :)

Work case number does work.. Try 11111.. or 222... It worked for me last week ..

Dial in number given on I-140 receipt and follow the instructions - please try in early morning. I tried around 8 am from chicago. I called them on 8/13 and they mentioned me the pkt-3 should be reached to your attorney within 2-3 weeks.
best of luck!!

Thanks for the feedback Ranen

One more question:

When your approved 140 reached NVC, did the system update immediately? Or did you find out by talking to the operator?

Generally, how long does it take for NSC to send the 140 to the NVC?

Please reply...

Mine was received on 8/12. And my I-140 was approved on 7/21. The operator informed me the received date and they created my case on the same day. My attorney recvd. the pkt on 8/26.
cheers!!

Well, forgot to mention - follow cptracker.com u will have a rough idea of the dates etc.

Ranen...

My question was... when you checked NVC's automated message on 8/12, did it say that your case was received from NSC?

Or did the message say not found... and you got to know that it was received on 8/12 by talking to the operator?

I am trying to figure out how far to trust that message... right now, it says my case is not found, should I talk to an operator and make sure it is not received... or is it too early?

I am from NSC and 140 AD is 8/28.

Thanks for your patience ;)

Aishwarya,

In my experience the recorded message is never correct, it has always said "case not found" for me. However, information from the operators has been correct, and the operators are very helpful and informed, unlike those at INS.

AD of I-140 8/28 ? It's too early then. Why aren't you trying after 2 weeks or so from today. I was also trying NVC after week from I-140-AD and i was trying in the evening it was telling the old saga - "There's no operator available by this time ..." . Lastly as I mentioned earlier I tried around 8AM from chicago on 8/13 and was able to get an operator who gave me the info regarding my case. My personal experience(very little) with NVC AVM is so far reliable but some of our friends on this forum has different experience. Hope I replied you this time.

Omer is very correct on operator. They r awesome, they r splendid !!
cheers!!

Aish,

Look at cptracker.com to get an idea about the recent dates. You know how fickle the process is. Things change at the turn of a dime (or even without it :(). Timelines from June may not hold anymore.

I always talked to an operator to get the latest information. They were usually very cooperative. Automated message was not always correct.
