Hi,

I have applied for consular processing from Mumbai and I currently am In Toronto Canada.

After sending my and my family’s packet –3 NVC is asking for more document. I am going to list them below and ask my question regarding them. Any help would be much appreciated.

1. OF 230-I – it says ‘You must submit proof establishing your eligibility to be processed for an immigrant visa In Canada’ – I didn’t get that I asked for processing in Mumbai, but why would they ask for that.

2. 230_II – they are asking for this again. Not sure why?

3. Passport : Biographic data page. – do they need it now or at the consulate?

4. Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Canada police clearance, India Police Clearance and Singapore police clearance. - Do they need it now or at the consulate? I thought I needed to submit it during my interview.

5. Are priority dates going to be backdated again? If so how far back?

6. Do I need local police clearance from Calcutta for Mumbai Processing?

Thanks in advance guys.

Sudipta

There could be a chance that NVC is considering the case for Montreal Processing even though its indicated for indicated for CP elsewhere.

For Montreal and some African Consulates NVC completes and reviews all paper work and send it to the respective consulate for interview.

One way to check would be to call NVC at (603) 334 0700.

Sudiptabhaskar,

To begin with - what are the 3 alphabets your case number begin with? You will be able to tell which consulate you case has been assigned to with that. For Bombay it has to be BMB.

Also the best time to call NVC is at 7:30 AM EST.

Your DS230 II will only be required at the time of interview.

As far as the PCC is concerned, if you live in the US you go to the Indian consulate which has jurisdiction over you area of residence, so I believe it would be the same in Canada. Call the Indian Consulate there and find out.

Thanks to both of you

Now it does make sense I guess,

My case number starts with MTL which I would assume for Montreal and hence all these mess and not BMB.

My lawyer is suggesting to send a letter to them. What do the gurus suggest here? How could i fix this and expedite the case? Did this ever happen here?

Thnaks in advance again guys.

I suppose

This is a very unique case and I am really surprised to see that no one in this forum ever saw this kind of case and could help me with any suggestion.Always thought there couldn't be any mess in the process that this site doesn't have answer for :).

However, let me ask again, my priority date is OCT2003, how that might get affected from January, what does it have to do with NVC? Any link would be helpful too.

Thanks

Currently the EB3 category for Indians has fallen into retrogression (backlog).
If you do not belong to this category then you can still expect your interview
to take place as planned.

If on the other hand you belong to EB3 then your case will wait in line till
your Priority date (date of filing your Labor) becomes current. It looks like
presently the priority dates being handled for EB3 are Jan 2002. You may
want to check the special discussion areas opened for this topic.

NVC interchanging consualtes is not that rare. However it is the first time I am hearing about they assignining a MTL number for an Indian consulate case. (probably since you are in Canada).

If you are in EB3, there is enough time for you to clear up this NVC. As I mentioned earlier, one can call them. It take more than a few calls to get through, but once through, I found the NVC very responsive and courteous.

You can also Fax a letter describing your case. There is also an email address that is specifially provided for attorney's to enquire about their cases. But I found phone calls are better since you will know their side of the story, and its prompt.

Thanks to both of you

Will keep on trying to talk to them on the phone. In the mean time though as I said earlier we sent them a letter.

And yes I am on EB3 category (Priority date Oct 2003) and I guess I will have to wait now for God knows how long, if that is indeed the case. But on that note I have a scary thought, if, just in case my company closes down before I get my GC or before my interview, what then? I wouldn't have an employment letter in that case I guess. So in that case unlike 485, the whole process would be thrown away?

Thanks

Impossible

to talk to an operator at NVC.. I went from 'There are no operators at this time to assist you' to 'all operators are busy' within one second..

Did anyone have success in contacting them.?

On a different note, anybody would like to highlight some points regarding my last question please?

{I guess they are open from 8 am Eastern time, try calling them around that time.}
