Number of publications

A newbie question: how important is the number of publications in NIW case? Normally you would think quality overwighs quauntity. But immigration officers are not science experts, how do they know? From reference letters?

In my area of research there's a longer cycle and it is not common to have 10+ publications like many stories I've read online on NIW petitions. Am I at a disadvantage?

I think quantity of publication is not improtant unless you have good citation records.

Thanks. That's good to know. Now that I think about it, the link to national interest is probably the most important thing. Publication requirement would not be as stringent as OR or EA, right?
