Because it will give a bit caution to members.

Does it applicable to IV also?

Because i paid 200$ bucks.

I am really concerned now. Because that money goes to lobbyist.

Can you pls educate and what i shd do now.

Can i cancel my paypal transaction , as it is not yet processed.

Hope it is not a problem, but let us know how those idnians are suffering who paid to lobbyist.

Who told that it will be a problem? Please refer to the IV WebSite and try to get more details on paying a non-profit firm Vs PAC, before specualting something on the forums.
I still dont understand why we are so worried about such small things, IV guys are doing a great job, they might have considered all these issues before coming up with a firm and collecting funds, they are going in a professional way by hiring a lobbyist and trying to come up with a process to publish all details. Volunteers at IV speding thier quality time on this for all of us.

FYI, I am not from IV, i just support them for their efforts and strongly feel that we should encourage them in all aspects.

Just because someone wrote somethjng, you believed that? Can't you do yourself a favor and research a few things before crying out that the sky is falling?

First and foremost, lets get one thing clear....lobbying is NOT illegal. Its what you try getting done and how is what makes it illegal.

In case of Jack Abramoff, he duped the Indian Casinos of a lot of money by using a friend to lobby against them and hence they were forced to hire Abramoff.

This is from Wikipedia

The Jack Abramoff Indian lobbying scandal is a United States political scandal relating to the work performed by political lobbyists Jack Abramoff, Ralph E. Reed, Jr., Grover Norquist and Michael Scanlon on behalf of Indian casino gambling interests for an estimated $85 million in fees. Abramoff and Scanlon grossly overbilled their clients, secretly splitting the multimillion-dollar profits. In one case, they secretly orchestrated lobbying against their own clients in order to force them to pay for lobbying services.

Plus he paid money to the lawmakers so that they would vote in his clients favor.

IV will not be donating any money to any Political Action Committee. We will not be doing anything ILLEGAL. And NO, nothing will happen to any contributors to IV.

Does that allay any fear you might have?

The Indians they are talking about is American Indians who paid money to jack abr... for the gambling business

It's not for Asian Indians...
 
In our contract with QGA we have a exclusive section which says, 'No money paid by iv.org will go to any polical fundings, election fundraisers etc.'

Could you please aggregate the questions, esp. lobbying related asked by forum members here and their answers and add it to the FAQ section of IV. . in a few days, this thread will go in the back burner and someone will post the same question(s) again. We should take the questions asked (however probing or irritating or irrelevant it may seem) as an opportunity to further clarify things and beef up the FAQ.
 
I am 100% sure that we will not get into any trouble. (If you still are worried too much, just send it by money order - tell me how it can be tracked to a single person). I don't feel good that guys like hardon did not take any effort to talk to them instead question the motives(which makes me think that his interests do not align with us) We got to be smarter to think above it.

What would somebody has to do to derail our efforts? Disguise as somebody who is genuinely interested in our cause and sow the seeds of doubt and see whether it explodes into something in their favor?

Guys, please do not fall for it. Call them and talk to them; If you are still not convinced, send money order. Spending money for lobbying is NOT ILLEGAL.

It makes me furious that efforts of volunteers are being diverted to answer such questions.

I do not want to make any jeopardy to my application by contributing to lobbying firms.

I agree with one thing, we can educate lawmakers without all this money/lobbying involved.

why to put fingers, in which things are not clear/ and does not have plan to convince the money contributions.(I mean legal point of view).

God help us to get out of this retrogression.

If you are sincere.

Good for you. If you were sincere when contributed and being tracked/prosecuted is the only thing which changed your decision , you should make a trip to some post office and send money order.(And make sure to post here that you did) Or else we all know what you truely stand for.(and probably who you work for) Sorry buddy, you did not succed in your goal(atleast with me)

I do not want to do identity based transactions like paypal/creditcard or something .....which tracks identity.

I am sincere, but had concerns about the things which are not clear
wrt legal point of view.
 
I missed the change to put IV as the voluntary association in my 485

I already applied for my 485 and just missed the change that I can declare I am associated with an voluntary organization ImmigrationVoice.org.

I am advising my friend to do so and he is more willing to do so!

Please keep this as a guideline for members contributing.
It helps to avoid any trouble at 485 stage.

Even we do money contribution to ImmigrationVoice.Org, by mentioning same in 485 application taht we are associated with ImmigrationVoice voluntary org, will avoid any troubles in future.

So that it means we are not disclosing any info.
Please see 485 clearly asks whether u are associated with any organization.(No matter it is voluntary or non profit or something else..)

I wonder how many of us disclosed that we are in our Alumini association or Tamil/Telugu/Kashmiri groups. or redcross, Salvation Army, Catholic Relief Services. or home owner's association(oh my god, my home owner's association is lobbying for shopping mall in my neighbourhood)

Or I contributed to Breast Cancer Association by buying some ribbons(my god what to do now)

I find it really funny how retrogression20 is scared to contribute to a non-profit org! Did you know that many firms like Microsoft and Oracle actually double your contributions to non profit orgs? If you are so scared of this, let me ask you a few things

1) Did you reveal to INS when you moved from one place to another? Remember the AR-11 form?
2) Did you reveal to IRS any earnings because of gamblings/casinos? Did you know that we are supposed to do that?
3) You better not pay your attorney for your GC, thats going to be illegal very soon
4) I hope you do not drive in Maryland since they have video cameras everywhere and they might catch you driving 1 mile above speed limit
5) Did you get any masala from India? Did you know that we are not allowed to bring any spices from out of the country by plane?
6) I hope you did not own any stocks as a foreign student in USA, coz thats illegal.
7) Hope you did not sell stuff on ebay as a foreign student, thats illegal too!

The list is endless.....

This is hilarious!
I would really enjoy it but for the fact that I feel sad at people finding excuses against something like IV that is trying to ensure their own success!
How can it be illegal to root for your own success?
If you ever contributed to a Homeowner's association where you live, IV is a non-profit organization in the same tax class! And it is perfectly legal to contribute to it or join it!
Join IV guys, and we will all see success this year!

The problem with some of the folks is is they are extremely mean and do not wish well.

Pls stop bad mouthing, if you do not agree, express it decently, instead of publicly stating stuff that, does not make sense. IV is not trying to promote anybody's personal interests. THey are not forcing any one to put money into the cause. Well if all contribute, they can try their best to see what can be done to address the immigration issues.

If we all do not unite and help the retro fight, I am pretty sure nothing will happen in this decade, most will go back with bitter experiences in their life time.

Pls note : I am not a member of IV, I did contribute for IV. I believe that these group of IV Voluneteers are working hard for the root cause of the issues.

Retrogression20 is not a GC seeker

I suspect, retrogression20 is affected by retrogression; nor he is a GC seeker.

I would strongly recommend everybody to ignore these postings and concentrate on supporting the IV volunteers, do everything that we can to help them. Be positive!!! we will resolve this issue within the next 2-3 months.
