Hi I am a citizen of pakistan and i have filed 1485 since June 05 i got my infopass appointment on Sept 26th but when i got there i was surprised by the officer who asked me if i ever went to register for NSEERS. and i said no cuz i have no idea what that was. so he gave me a letter telling me to register in local office in Newark, NJ. So on Oct 11th 05 i went to register but they did not have my file there and we had to come back unregistered. Now the situation is that USCIS has sent me a letter that says if i dont register by Dec 30th my application will be cancelled. My lawyer has requested a transfer to National Benefits center but she says it could take many weeks. Can some one pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee help me with how to transfer the file to local office in newark, NJ and to make sure its there before i go again to register. its extremely important. i would appreciate any help.

lawyer up

First of all, I recommend that you quickly get lawyered up. You need to do some quick correspondence between the ICE, USCIS and service center agencies.

Try to get a senator's help in your area. They typically have offices where anyone can walk in and get help by explaining their problems.

Now some personal advice. Write back to the Service Center processing your application with the letters you received attached, explaining them the whole scenario. See if you make headway that way.

I ran into a similar issue, where I had missed a previous 30-day re-registration and was asked to meet with an ICE official. I did so. He determined that the failure to comply was not wilful and that was it.
