NSC Plastic Card

Got stamped in Chicago for conditional permanent resident, on 2/4/2002. Recevied a welcome notice from NSC dated 3/25/2002 that states that I will
receive the permanent resident card within 3 weeks.

CAN YOU PLEASE EXPLAIN ABOUT CONDITIONAL PERMANENT RESIDENT, BECAUSE I GOT STAMPLED ALSO FROM CHICAGO ON MARCH 25. MY STAMPED SAYS TEMPORARY PERMANET RESIDENT NOT CONDITIONAL. I WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THOSE TWO WORDS. PLEASE REPLY.

Conditional permanent residence

..is granted when your spouse is a US citizen.
It\'s conditional for 2 years, after that both the spouses have to submit a request to release the conditions and the status will be "unconditional" permanent resident.

If there is divorce during the period, the permanent residency will NOT be renewed. Just a measure to prevent a fraudulent marriage, and protect US citizens of being "screwed"
