NSC Delay in issuing plastic cards

I called NSC yesterday, as it has been more than 60 days since my 485 was approved. The lady whom I spoke to said that it is taking 6 months to 1 year to issue plastic cards. I told her that I had not got the welcome notice and she said that I might receive it in the same week as the plastic card. She began explaining all the things that they need to do (match the finger prints from the time of the passport stamp), prepare that information etc. She said that they send out the order of the cards in batches of several cards (probably hundreds or so). So, my card is waiting to be ordered and will be ordered when they reach the number. I wonder how the other service centers mail the cards in 3 weeks. Do they send each individual card to be ordered?

Anyways, most of you probably already know this, but just thought of posting it here for common knowledge.

same experience

my pp was stamped in start of dec'04. I got pretty much same response. I wonder if they read from a script ? Folks at other centers are getting plastic card in matter of weeks.

Did any of you get the welcome notice?

did after passport stamping LUD changed ?

Yes, both mine and my spouse's LUD changed 10 days after the stamping. I guess that correponds to the date when NSC received the finger prints plus the card request from the regional USCIS office (where we got the passports stamped).

What's the difference

Hey guys,
What are the impacts if your passport is stamped and you dont receive plastic card. Can you still travel as permanent resident also can you be paid unemployment benefits if you dont have plastic card. Also are you considred "Permanenet Resident" if only your passport is stamped. Please explain.

You could travel or do whatever PRs can do once your pp has been stamped because you are a PR now. The only thing is that you have to go for stamping again once the current one expires in 1 year.
