NSC Cards Received, But ....

nebulous

Registered Users (C)
I received the Cards (mine and my wife\'s) in the mail yesterday from NSC. Here are the details.

I-485 AOS, Approved 01/29/01, Stamped at Salt Lake City, Utah on 02/14/01.
Cards Ordered 11/08/01, Received 12/05/01.

I thought the ordeal was finally over. Until I looked at the back of the card and had the
wrong signature. The signature for my card and my wife\'s card are interchanged. That
means I am assuming that the fingerprints are also interchanged.

So, here I go again.

I am assuming that I need to apply for the new card with form I-90 at the local office.
I downloaded the foms and filled them out, and will probably try to go tomorrow to
submit them. I also assume that we need to take 2 photographs, the cards and
pasports, and checkbook (just in case).

So, my questions are :

      1. What is the timeline for I-90 ?
      2. We need to travel in the middle of Jan 2002. Any idea if the
cards will come in the mail by then.
      3. Can I get the passport re-stamped when I go for submitting I-90 ?

Thank you for your help and advice.

Bollocks!

Just when I was almost out they drag me back in!

I really hadn\'t planned on looking at this BB anymore, but old habits die hard. I thought everything was perfect on my card (to my surprise) until I read this. I don\'t see any evidence of any signature on the back of my card. I see my photo, LIN#, A# and DOB, and exp. date embossed faintly in the metal strip, but definitely no signature.

Can anyone point me to where their signature is on their card, so I can verify this sinking feeling is justified?

The signature is in the left half of the film/strip on the back. It is just below the name and to the right of the photograph. Others who got their cards please confirm this.

Shutterbug ??

I went to the the locan Distict INS office. The lady at the INS office said not to worry and was hesitant to process for the new card. She says that when she scans the card she cant see any signature at all. And, she also told me that she talked to an airport INS officer and she was told that they dont even look for signatures at the airport. Is this correct ?

I am going to ask our lawyer and see what she says.

JoeF, American Wannabe, or anybody has any idea whether I should worry more about it or not.

Thank you for your insights and advice.

Signature

Nebulous,

I checked my card and found the signature exactly where you say it shoud be. (below the name to the right of the photograph). Fortunately it was my signature. [Abtcat, it is really minaturized and faint. Hope you can find it!!].

Nebulous, I am not sure what to tell you. I think you should be ok if the lady at the local INS says it is, but see if any other opinion is offered on this board. Another option is to call an IIO at NSC or at the national customer service center to see if they have any ideas.

Good luck my friend.

Aha!

Nebulous, Shutterbug, thanks for the geographical tips. It is indeed there and truly microscopic. And it\'s mine.

Cheers.
