Nowadays, is name check, after passing interview, required?

Nowadays, is name check, after passing interview, before getting oath letter, still required? i heard that name check is supposed to be completed before interview.

I have seen people get oath done on the same day after passing interview and other people were handed oath notice letter by interview officer right after interview. Does this mean that name check was completed before interview?
