Now there is a joke for you. BCIS and Customer service.

If the BCIS folks were to adjudicate faster then there does not need to be any “Improved Communications” press release nonsense. Also looks like the election next year is making the BCIS officials say these type of statements. IF you read these statements you can see that they are aimed towards pacifying immigrants anger.

Mr. Hutchison pledged that the BCIS "will treat applicants with fairness and respect, preserving our tradition as a warm and welcoming nation that values the contributions of immigrants”.

Only we will not approve 485’s. OK now I that I have vented off my frustration let me get back to work.

Here is the news from Murthy’s site.

DHS Watch : TOPOFF II and Customer Service at BCIS

The DHS continues in its efforts to combat terrorism, while striving to improve immigration services. During the week of May 12-16, 2003, DHS, in conjunction with the Canadian government, has conducted mock terrorist attack drills in Seattle and Chicago. These drills, known as TOPOFF II, are designed to develop cohesive emergency plans. Both unclassified and classified drills have occurred throughout the week. Though significant portions of the drills have focused on minimizing injuries and caring for victims, it is presumed that intelligence forces in the U.S. and Canada also have collaborated on strategies for capturing those responsible for implementation of a terrorist attack.

Even as mock terrorism drills have been conducted, Under Secretary Asa Hutchison has reaffirmed that improved customer service at the BCIS remains a top goal of the DHS. In a May 7, 2003 speech, Mr. Hutchison pledged that the BCIS "will treat applicants with fairness and respect, preserving our tradition as a warm and welcoming nation that values the contributions of immigrants." We applaud Mr. Hutchison for this commitment and believe that eFilings of applications and the abolition of NSEERS are signs of continuing this commitment.

The Iraqi citizen who aided the U.S. military in Iraq in their recovery of Private Jessica Lynch, his wife, and 5-year-old daughter were granted asylum in the U.S. in late April 2003. This is a positive sign that our nation continues to recognize national heroes – including those who are not born on American soil.
