All of our sources tell us that the U.S. House negotiations are back on track on the giant Budget Reconciliation bill. That is, the House staff negotiators no longer appear to be open to the Senate's version that would increase total immigration by 350,000 every year.

This is a 180-degree turn-around in less than 30 hours!

The Budget bill remains in negotiations among Senate and House committee staffers. A joint version will be sent to both Senate and House floors for a vote by the end of next week -- maybe even later this week.

Because immigration provisions are a very small part of this bill, this is the perfect setting for really bad immigration changes to be sneaked through. Your phone calls and faxes totally removed any secrecy about the Specter provision in most offices in Congress the last two days.

You keep plastering the same message here whether it fits into the discussion or not. In my book this is SPAM.

The issue of retrogression does affect physicians here in the forum, but due to the usually steady employment most of us enjoy, it is more of a nuisance than a threat (worst case scenario: extra years on H1b extensions instead of GC or working on EAD instead of GC). Nobody working in the US as a foreign trained physician or resident has reason to buy suitcases due to retrogression.

I have addressed the issue in a letter to 'my' senator (and actually received a very detailed 2 page reply which went far beyond the usual politician phraseology). I also brought it up with the representative during a fundraiser and have been emailing back and forth with his staff ever since. We all do our part, I don't think your codescending attitude is warranted here.

my spouse is a physician and I still make more $$$,$$$$ and have a PD before Apr01, in either of the cases this should make you believe this is to help whom.
Despite that unless we have the GC it all seems meaningless. If you got some responses share here so that others including me can use for the cause
