Nov 2002 485 case approved FINALLY..

On Mar 11, Friday, at 7:42 pm (yes evening), I got the "magic" emails with my approval. I know that eventually the green card gets approved, but for some reason, I had lost all hopes. My FP2 was done in July 2004 and my case had been stuck in security check. I got no RFEs. Repeated status inquiry by my lawyers were in vain and received standard response that the center cannot predict how long adjudication will take. My lawyers also wrote to the FBI in Jan, but we have not heard anything from FBI yet.

I wrote to my senator (Barack Obama), and his office was very responsive. They told me, 1 month ago, that I should get the approval within 60 days. For those in IL facing delay, I will highly recommend contacting him (I can't remember the name of the caseworker, but if anyone needs it, I can check the letter and send a PM). In the meantime, my lawyers wrote to the center director and some other officials whose name they did not reveal to me. In 2 days I received a letter from the center director that my case was undergoing special handling and I should hear from them "very soon". In 5 days, I got the approval.

The journey has been very long and full of bumps. My 140 got denied early last year due to some processing error. The letter mailed to me had said that "there were no grounds for repeal for the decision". My lawyers had to make a few phone calls and in less than 24 hours from the receipt of the denial letter my 140 got approved. This was followed by the very long wait for the 485 approval.

So my routine of checking for the approval on uscis website and then reading the posts here will end. I thank the members of this portal and Rajiv for a very informative chat site and wish everyone a speedy approval.

Congratulations!

You Lawyer did what ever he could but on the other hand my Lawyer refuse that she can not do anything.

Congratulations and Its really nice to see Oldiees to get approved first thing in the morning.
As posted below by Khan, even my lawyer has refused to do anything special and told me that since I have approached the congressman, now if he approaches, it will still complicate the case and delay it and when I tried askin for help from congressman, I am not getting a good response. So Khan, we have to just wait for our Day!

Did the reply mention "approval within 60 days" or "response within 60 days". Becos I got a similar letter from my senator (John Coryn) but it said "response within 60 days". Apparently it seems that someone had put my file on hold

I checked my letter from the senator, it said "you should hear from them in 60 days. If 60 days have passed and you have not heard, call me and I will look into the matter further."

My company's immigration lawyers are Fragomen. They are like any other lawywers till the case goes bad. However, they are very responsive after that. My company has to be one of the largest corporate accounts for them.

congratulations. I think they are now in the similar pace to approve the remaining 2002 cases. My ND was sep 2002 and it was approved dec 2004. Now, three months later it's march 2005. They are approving cases of dec 2002. What a great relief!

Should the congressman intervene sooner than later

RD 11/17/2003.
I was wondering since now the dates showing are 1/29/04, I know its much later than 11/02 but since technically i should have had my case approved by now as all my friends have got theirs. Do you think I should seek congressmans help right away or wait for it to get approved naturally in a couple weeks or so.. but then again, who knows.. right?
What do you guy sthink>?
