Hi there,

Does anybody know if I would be able to see the USCI final decsion regarding the J-1 waiver on DOS "check of status" page? DOS has sent the Fav recommendation to USCI on August 1th 2007vand I was just wondering if there is any way to find out about their final decision before they mail it to me. I have tried to call the USCI but never got any usefull answer!!!!

Thanks in advance

The DOS website will not show anything beyond the favorable rec, it's out of their hands after that.

The USCIS will not tell you the final decision before they mail it to you. They mail the decision within a day or two of the final decision, so there's nothing for them to tell you before then. If you want your receipt number, call USCIS and give them your name exactly as it was written on the DS-3035 waiver application, and tell them you are supposed to have a pending I-612 but never got the receipt notice for it. They will ask you if you paid for it and all of that (because they assume YOU send it to USCIS and not the State Department), just tell them this is a different kind of application that is forwarded by DOS and not by you - they will get confused and forward you to an immigration officer - which is what you want. Once you are forwarded there, give them your name and tell them you didn't get a receipt and would like a receipt number for I-612. If they find it, they will give it to you. If they don't, just say thanks and try again in a couple of weeks. Don't panic if they don't find it, it's common for this type of application. Once you get the receipt #, you will be able to follow your case status on USCIS pages (not DOS).

jk0274,
Thank you so much for the info and explanation. I'll try to see if I can get any information from USCIS. Have tried it before without luck though so I know what you mean. My main concern is that for the return envelop I supposed to include some stamps but since I live in Denmark and didn't have any US stamp I had to buy some international stamp which can be exchanged to US stamp now I'm concern that USCIS would not go out of their way to do that. That's why I want to find a way to know about their final decision.

Thanks again
