Notice to appear

Hello everyone,
I have a question regarding US immigration and I would appreciate it if you guys can give me some advice on what I should do. Last year I left USA and moved to Canada. I am now happily married, living in canada as a landed immigrant. When I left USA, I had overstayed my US Student Visa and registered myself with INS when I was leaving. Recently, I received an NTA (Notice to appear) from EOIR (Executive Office of Immigration Review) in Detroit and I am being asked to appear before court next month to explain why I over-stayed. Is there anyway this NTA can be terminated on the ground that I am not even living in USA anymore and I volunterily left USA more than year ago. Plus, my criminal record while I was in USA is clean, I was never arreseted nor took part in any of the illegal activities, nor knew anyone who were involved in such activities.
I would really like to know if there is a way out of this NTA. I dont want to just miss the hearing because then I dont want to be barred from entering USA ever again as I have a lot of relatives living there including sisters.
Please advise me what options I have and how I can stop this NTA. If there is noway to terminate this, then I'll have to go and face the judge i guess.
Thanx..
