My husband received his letter to appear for the oath ceremony after completing the naturalization interview. On the form, the box was checked off that he should bring a re-entry permit. I did a little research and re-entry permits are only required if you are going to be out of the US for a given amount of time. He was never out of the US for this amount of time (and was never required to obtain a re-entry permit), so I am confused as to why re-entry permit is checked off on the form. Did this happen to anyone else?

If he was never outside the US for longer than a year at a stretch and never applied for a re-entry permit he can just ignore that item. He can explain the same to the IO at the oath in case he is asked for the re-entry permit.

It's a standard form. They check all the boxes for everyone. Don't worry about it. Just have your husband take his notice and his green card and he'll be fine.
