Notice period for H1 Transfer

Hi,

I actually got transferred to a new employer. But I still didnt inform my present employer about resigning from the company.

Since my company is paying me on monthly basis and if I tell them now, they might not pay me.

So is it ok to join the new company, get this months salary and then tell them that I resigned.
