Notice of Intent to Deny received today and need good lawyer for the rebuttal letter

Hi, all

This is Lei here. Today I received an intent-to-deny letter two weeks after my interview. The letter was basically saying that "I failed to establish by a preponderance of the evidence that the harm you suffered at the hands of the Chinese authorities rises to the level of past persecution" and "I have failed to establish a well-founded fear of future persecution".

One so-called immigration consultant filed my application, and hired a lawyer representing for me only during the interview. If anyone of you happens to know of an attorney in the Los Angeles area who is good at handling rebuttal cases, could you please let me know?

I contacted one lawyer and he would like to charge me $2400 for writing the rebuttal letter. Is this a reasonable price or not?

Its totally your decision. It seems a little high for $2400 to write a rebuttal, but if you can afford it then it is worth it. Remember it is about your future life. So to you weigh the pros/cons if your rebuttal is granted then it is worth way more than 2400.
I would suggest you to contact pro bono lawyers in your area and see if you can get free service. Otherwise, if you can afford it then go for it.

Always get SECOND, THIRD, even FORTH Opinion.
Meaning, don't just contact one lawyer, contact several lawyer (including the PRO BONO/Free Lawyer).
then choose which lawyer you feel will be best to represent you!

I contacted another lawyer and they wanted to charge me 5000 USD for the rebuttal letter. I'm still struggling with which one to go.

I doubt if a green card is really worth that much.

Meaning, don't just contact one lawyer, contact several lawyer (including the PRO BONO/Free Lawyer).
then choose which lawyer you feel will be best to represent you!

Obviously we are lucky to have more number of lawyers in the society, for specific case particular lawyer will be there, so consult the best lawyer, who will charge less. You can find them in online also, here based on your requirement and budget you can get them easily.
