Not sure what is this about?

I had filed for my I-751 at the TSC in March and I got a notice in the mail saying that my petition has been approved but I have to make an infopass appointment and bring photographs with me.

What I don't understand is that when I filed the application I had send photographs with it and it was my understanding that if they decided to approve the application they will just send the GC in the mail, so why are tehy asking about the photos now?

What exactly should I expect at the infopass appointment?

If this is the appointment for approving the final GC when will I receive it?

Any answers will be appreciated.
Thanks.

My guess is that you should make an Infopass appointment and take some new photos with you. Probably they lost the photos or were not happy about them in some way. Maybe they were too out of date, how long between filing and getting the letter was it?

All in all, stop overthinking things and just do what the letter tells you! :)

you are lucky to have your I-751 approved in less than 6 months. Just take photos and go get your permanent GC :)

dr lha, I filed it in March and got the approval reply in the end of july, so it took about 4 months.

ari4u, yeah I think I am lucky, i took the notice and photographs, passport and the expired GC over there and everything went fine. The officer filled out the form (I think it was I-551) and she took my finger impression on that form and pictures and stamped my passport with the I-551 stamp.

One thing that I did not understand is that she 'took' my expired GC and said that she will take that because they are going to mail me a new one in about 2-6 months. Is this the way they usually do it, I mean do they usually take the old GC?

I am a little worried about it. Any ideas?

The I-551 stamp is a green card.
You have nothing to worry about.
You have your passport stamped. You can travel and work.
The stamp is valid for 1 year, I guess. Your plastic green card should be coming in the next 6 months.
Even if it doesn't, you have your I-751 approval and you can get another stamp.

Thanks sarrebal, I feel better now. I was having a feeling that that I made a 'mistake' by letting her keep my expired GC.
