Hi,
Mine and my wifes Passport was I-551 stamped six months back
after our I-485 approvals from CSC.
I received my platic green card after a month while my wife had not received her Plastic Green card even after 6 months.
How can she get the plastic green card now.
What do we need to do now.
Please inform.

Thanks,
Murali

First, you need to find out if the card was ever mailed to your wife in the first place. You can do that by checking the (online or phone) status of her I-485 application. When the card is ordered, the message changes from "Your application has been approved ..." to "a card has been ordered on..." and then, when it is actually mailed, the message should change again to something like "The card was mailed to you on..."

If the card was never mailed to you, you can file form G-731 "Inquiry about the status of the I-551 Alien Registration Card" with CSC. You can also try calling the CSC or the National Cervice Center to find out what happened.

If the card was mailed to you and got lost, you'll probably need to file the form I-90 for the replacement of a card that was produced but never received.
If the card was mailed to you but was for some reason returned to CSC by the postal service, it may not be necessary to file an I-90, I am not sure.

If none of this produces results, contact the U.S. representative for your district or any of the senators for your state and ask them to help.

Hi Baikal,
Thank you for the posting.
Card was never ordered by the USCIS in my wifes case .

This case has been approved. On February 16, 2005, an approval notice was mailed. If 14 days have passed and you have not received this notice, you may wish to verify or update your address. To update your address, please call the National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283.

Do we need to take appointment with USCIS and go to the CSC officce physically , for filing form G-731 "Inquiry about the status of the I-551 Alien Registration Card" with CSC.
Can we call first the USCIS and then file the G-731.
Thanks,
Murali

You don't need an appointment for filing G-731, and there is no filing fee. The form and the filing instructions are available at the USCIS site:
http://uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/g-731.htm

However, you may want to visit the local USCIS center where you did the passport stamping anyway and try to talk to a live person there (I beleive this would require scheduling an appointment). There is a chance that the paperwork for your wife's card for some reason got stuck there and they might be able to trace it.

It took a little more than 8 months before my wife got her card, while I got mine within 3 weeks.

What we did:
1. sent in G-731 twice, with about 3 month interval.
2. call the national service center to ask if they are "waiting for things
from you"
- have your approval notice and passport ready to supply them info
- if you get a non helpful rep, call again the next day
- by helpful I mean they should at least say things look in order
and they will send in an inquiry
- if they send an inquiry, they will say a month wait is needed
for you to hear back.
- after a month, call again.
