My case was approved in TSC July 30 2008 (AD) and I received my GC in 3 weeks following the notice. I am the primary applicant. My wife's case was approved on August 13 2008 (AD) which is two weeks later than mine. She received a welcome notice (two of them) and a notice which says "her case was approved and no further action is required, a biometrics for her may be needed etc.". I guess that's not the case because we gave biometrics together the same day. So if it is not needed for me, than it should not be needed for her either (simple logic). Anyway, 3 weeks passed since her case's approval date and we have not received her GC yet. There is no update on her case if I check with receipt number. It says that "on August 13 2008 we mailed you a notice that we have approved I-485....". The welcome notice states that the GC should be received in 3 weeks following the approval date and instructs to call Customer Serv. Center if it is not yet received in 3 weeks. I called Customer Serv. Center and they were not able to give me more information than saying her case was approved which is actually the same info I see online with the receipt#. They said that we can go see someone at local office using Infopass if we like to (I wonder if it is really needed at this point).
Is this wait time for spouse GC typical or should we expect to wait longer? While it is hard to know what to expect from USCIS, any idea about when we should expect to receive her GC (any educated guess based on experience)? BTW, online tool does not show any update like "card production ordered or card mailed". I wonder if GC can show up in mail anytime without an her case # updated.
Thanks,
