Hi guys:
Our lawyer(for J1 Waiver through Conrad 30) is of the opinion that we don't
need to get attestation from the Indian Govt(Dept of Home, DoE etc)
if we didn't receive financial/travel assistance from the GoI. (We did not)

However IndianEmbassy.org seems to indicate otherwise!

Is it mandatory to do the 2-hops?(One to get the notarized statements
attested at washington, another from authorities in India?)

Also need to send original passport?(This seems necessary).

Anybody with experience?

Thanks in advance!

Ananth

It would be news to me that you need a letter from your home goverment to get a Conrad30 waiver.

The Conrad30 is in the 'interested goverment agency waiver' category, not in the 'no objection waiver' category. I think your attorney is right, and this embassy website is wrong.

the NOC for waiver is only for J1 research waiver and not for physicians .just dont worry what Indian embassy site says abt it as no part of ur J 1 waiver papers goes to Indian embassy/ governament.

..

Mu husband did Conrad 30 waiver last year- nothing to do with Indian embassy or India. What America wants, America takes, whether India objects or not.
