Norfolk DO Processing times

Some friends recently got their citizenship from Norfolk office and they waited for over two month to give their Oath. And the reason is the court room capacity is limited to 100 people and the ceremony happens only once a month at that place.
The other place for the ceremony is Richmond and the capacity is 70 people and ceremony again is held once a month.

Does any one know if we can ask to have our fingerprint at other place that the Norfolk office since it has long backlog?? I don't mind to go to Northern VA or Richmond to get my fingerprints done to speed up the process.
 
Applicants have to go to the office that has jurisdiction over the area where they live. You can't cherry-pick where your case gets processed...

Just had my interview at Norfolk DO today. Interview was straightforward & was out in less than 10 minutes.

Timeline
DO : Norfolk
PD: Jan 19,2006
1st FP : Mar 21,2006 ( Rejected due to poor quality as it was done with ink )
2nd FP: May 4
Interview ; Jun 12 , 2006
Oath: Nov 15,2006

Wife : Interview ; May 4,2006
Oath : August , 2006

I know oath is 5 months from now, but believe me I am so relieved as I am almost there.

my Oath date unknown due to name check pending and planning to sue on 09/05/2006.
Why Richmond Oath appointment always far away from ID?

I believe you had pointed out that Richmond as well as Norfolk has a capacity of 100 people during oath ceremony which happens once a month & I am not surprised by the huge demand as Richmond has a growing immigrant population & Richmond is not able to accomadate the influx.

Just fyi & for the sake of completeness, I had my oath ceremony today in Norfolk which was rescheduled from Nov'06
