Non-compete agreement and how to get rid of it

Don't know which Forum would be appropriate for my issue.

Here is my situation,

I used to work for a Cleint in Virginia till the end of April 2005
through multiple layers. My then Employer was a company from Illinois
(hereinafter A), has contractual obligation with the a NJ based
company (hereinafter B) for that project. The Company B has one more
Layer on the top, a VA based company (hereinafter C), and finally the
C has the Client D, where I was consulting.

Me ->A-->>B-->>-->>C-->>D (Client)

During that contact, I signed a non-compete agreement with Company B
that I can not accept employment from C and/or D directly or
indirectly for next one year.

I left my sponsored Company A and joined another company E and moved
to Michigan. Now my old Client D is again asking me to join them
through Company C and since I am now on my EAD, the Company C is ready
to take me as a W-2 Employee of them. And Company C told me that they
do not have any obligation from B to employ me.

But I am little hesitant to join company C as I had signed the
non-compete with Company B.

My Question is whether I can accept employment offer from Company C.
Is there any work around if I can not ignore that non-compete
agreement.

If it is not possible, can I take that contract from Company D through
my present company E.
