No taxation without representation

One of the main reason America fought and got freedom from the British was because they beleived there should be no taxation without representation.
It's completely understandable and I agree with it.
But when it comes to people like us, the H1B's (seking permanent residencies) this rule seems to have been totally ignored.
Not only do we pay all the taxes like SS, local, state, fedral, sales we don't have the basic right to live in the country we all like and admire so much. We can be thrown out at any time.

On one hand the law makers seem to care more and show sympathy for illegal immigrants, but they make it extermely difficult and painful for legal immigrant aspirants like us.
Many of us have studied and worked here for so many years, I feel it should not be so difficult.

We(H1b's) contribute significantly a lot more to US ecomony and the society in general than the other immigrant groups.
There are some people who feel we take away their jobs.
This is absolutely false.
Companies here need many smart people, if they don't find enough people here the jobs won't be created here, they would either go to places like India/Europe/China where there are a lot of smart engineers. The companies won't hire unqualified people.
Smart people like us create more jobs directly and indirectly. Directly by starting new companies, developing new technologies or indirectly by stimulating housing market.

So what I am trying to say is INS should realize that smart, intelligent, hard working immigrants will make US a much better, more stronger country and so they should make immigration more simpler for H1B's instead of discouraging us the way they are doing it now.

Well said.

But what can you do? I believe the INS understands quite well the contributions immigrants and H1Bs make, that is why they are giving you visas. But the INS, like the rest of the US government, believes in exploitation. That is the way this country becomes the only superpower in almost every aspect while other countries are experiencing those ups and downs.

The sad thing is, once you become a permanent resident or citizen, you will forget your past pain and will think exactly the same way an average US citizen does.

So the vicious cycle goes on and on, and people like you and me will continue to suffer generation after generation.
