You should get the receipt fairly quickly like in one week or max two weeks , if you have sent it through Fed Ex you should have the delivery receipt singed at INS or a confirmation of such , was your check towards the application fee cashed... check with your bank??? these are the indicators that your file has been with INS if the above two things are negative you have to start calling IIO or send another application???
Else if the above mentioned things are positive then INS is backlogged and slow even in that case you should call IIO and find out.
