No Plastic Card/Welcome Letter

Folks,

My DOE entry was 12/26/03 from LA and thus far no welcome letter or signs of plastic card. This seems kind of abnormal after seeing so many posts in this forum.

I checked with BCIS and they told me to file a G-731C form and send them over to California Service Center as my POE comes under CSC. My address was OK in the immigrant visa issues by the Consulate and I don't see any reason how all this could happen.

If anyone in this forum has gone through similar experience in the past please do share the experience. Any additional input/advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

RK

I am in the same situation.

Hi, RK_0629,

I am in the same situation as you are, I sent the forms of inquiry in Jan and Feb, no reply now.

I also have some other experience that makes me sick, and you may be interested in.

when I tried to find out why delayed, a young black lady in Newark local office wrote "cancelled without prejudice " on my stamp, that makes me upset. I aksed her why, she can not explain and just told me my case is pending, of course it is pending... I asked lawyer, the lawyer said the lady is not right to do so on my passport. Obviousely, she does not duties clearly.

Anyway, hope you have reply soon.

elmz,

Just out of curiosity did you go for CP or AOS ??

And did you receive a new SS card for yourself and your family ? I am assuming that if a SS card is issued with conditions for working removed from your existing SS card that itself is a good sign...I hope I am right ?

Senior members extend your comment on the SS card.

Thanks,

RK

I received my new SSC 2 months after date of passport stamped.

I went SS office twice 2 weeks after approval date, I was told, data usually was updated in 2 weeks. They kept a notice on my request and told me "if the card is ready, it will be mailed to you soon".

The new SSC is a new one without any condition on it (different from the one I applied with my H1 visa).

passport stamped in May 19 2003. not received plastic card now.

elmz,

Sorry about your situation. But this is what happened in my case- all our cards were sent to an incorrect address and were returned to CSC- the cards however were sent just like most others within 3-4 weeks after DOE but we did not receive them for over 8 or 9 weeks. Our attorney's office had their liaison at CIS who was able to confirm that the cards were sent to wrong address based on the A# we had provided. The cards were located/address corrected and delivered.

I think the address problem can happen with anyone...its just a matter of luck/bad luck and you have to be prepared for this kind of situation.

Again did you take the CP path or AOS. What I have noticed is that there are more issues with getting GC (the physical card) based on AOS as against CP.

Good luck to you.

Cancelled your 551 stamp??? Why ???

Re: Re: I am in the same situation.

Hi, Alren,

I have no idea why? I guess she was not able to find any results from USCIS for such case (transferred to local office), and she simply marked it as "cancelled". no reason, she said I will get one letter from INS and it will explain why and how is the processing.

I worried about my photos, as it was really dark, the background is almost brown. But I think I should receive some letter informing me of this.

I called USCIS again yesterday, there is a lady on the other side told me I should receive a letter in 3-4 weeks, if no, I should call USCIS again.

Totally, I have sent 3 forms(I-731V) froms from Jan to last month, I have not received any reply from them, hope I can hear from them in this month.

Can you tell me your situation?

regards,

ELMZ

Oh! I'm in no such situation.

I was wondering, why did they cancel the 551 stamp. If they cancel it what are the consequences.

elmz:

When putting a CWOP or Cancelled withour prejudice stamp on any visa, the consular officer / USCIS officer HAS to give a reason why such stamp is being put before putting the stamp.

You need to go back to that local INS office and investigate the reason. I think there has been an error somewhere. Carry your SSN card without work restriction as a proof that you have PR status. They should be able to re-stamp your passport.

kd1403,

Thank you very much for your suggestion, I surely will go to the local office again. I will wait for several days and to see if I can get the reply from them as they promised.

What you suggested is also mentioned by one of my friends, a lawyer, although he is not a immigration lawyer, there are a lot of none immigration lawyers also handle immigration cases, they are practicing on some of us, but they usually have intuitive sense on legal formalities.

I believe what you said, the error is somewhere within BCIS, not on my side, I think I have right to argue about it. Next week I will be there and come back here again.

Thanks a lot,

ELMZ
