No more temporary GC

I scheduled an infopass for this morning and they told me that they don't issue temporary GC anymore. However, I did get a letter from them that states that I was approved for GC and that currently I'm waiting for the actual card. She would put a stamp in my passport, but I don't have one ... tough luck :-)

It's been more than 60 days since I got my appoval, no card yet ...

nofreedom,

From where did you receive approval letter for your I-485 petition? Local CIS Office or Nebraska Service Center? Please share your experience.

If you received it from local office, you are definitely allowed to have your passport stamped.

Thanks

from nebraska. However, in the local office they did say that they would stamp my passport, but I don't have it. They don't issue new I-94 as a temporary GC or any other document.

Nofreedom, I think you should have told them to stamp it on your forehead so that you can proudly display your Permanent Residency :p :D ;)
God O mighty, this is a catch 22. They don't want you to renew your passport yet they need your passport to give you a proof that you are a permanent resident
Did you ask them your Biometrics since you were there anyway.

If you don't have valid passport, you can not get temp. GC stamp. Why do you need stamped passport? If you want to travel overseas, you can get a RTD instead to satisfy your travel needs.

I could get RTD, but it takes time. By that time I could get my GC.

I did asked them about biometric, but they said that I might not need it. I told them I do, but they couldn't do anything. Biometric is done in other part of the building and these guys don't have nothing to do with it. They were nice in giving me at least the letter so that I don't have to submit all my asylee paperwork when I close my home loan next month.
