Hi all,
I was searching thru the posts and couldn\'t find an answer to this...

I lost my job a few mionths ago. I still have a few months before my H1 visa expires. Will this cause a problem when applying for Canadian immigration?
Obviously the latest letter of employment I can show says that I stopped working a short while back.
I also read about moving from H1 to B2 status to stay in status here.

Any feedback in this willbe much appreciated.

Thx...

I am in the same boat

In terms of Canada immigration I don\'t know, but for the INS (US) you can\'t be here for more than 2 weeks after the end of your job. They are talking about a rule (not a law) expanding those 10 days to 60 days. But that memo is dated Jun 16/2001. After the attacks on Sep 11 things are becoming really hard, so I would get a change of status to B1/B2. What I don\'t know is if you can apply here in the US to the PR for Canada under B1/B2 visa.
If you receive any answer, please share it here.
Good luck.

Can I start the process while still in the US, leave to another country and

come back to the US for the interview and medical?
Or can I start the process here, and inform of change of address (another country) after receiving approval of my aapplication?

Please let me know soon, I have to leave in about a week and I want to let the process started since the process is taking 10 months via Buffalo, while it takes up to 2 years when done in my in-a-war country?

Thanks.
