NIW/ Where to file 485

My I-140 got approved in TSC under NIW - self petition. I am working in Houston, TX. As TSC has a humongous 485 backlog and my I-140 approval is not based on my employer, would it be possible for me to file my 485 in other service center? Please help guys!

Hi Divya! CONGRATULATIONS!!! Could you please post the notice and approval dates on your I-140? Also, did you have any RFEs? My husband also applied for NIW at TSC and got an RFE. The notice date of his RFE response is 02/05/01, and he\'s still waiting for the final decision. Thanks for sharing your information.

Divya, My I-140 (NIW) self petion notice says I should file my I-485 with the local INS office. My petition was approved by TX servive center. Could you please check your I-140 approval notice and tell me if there is any instruction on where to file I-485? Thanks.

You have to file I-485 to the SC having jurisdiction over the place you currently live, not work (unlike I-140). So, you probably don\'t have a choice unless you live in abother SC area. ))
