NIW Self-Petition

Hi there,
I am planning to file a NIW petition. I am currently working in a medically related company. Is it possible to do self-petition? OR do I need to file under my company. Please help.

The reason I ask is because the I14o form has this under self-petition:
"is a member of the profession holding an advanced degree
or is claiming exceptional ability in the sciences, arts, or
business, and is seeking an exemption of the requirement
of a job offer in the national interest (NIW)"

The above mentioned phrase kind of implies self petition is for "seeking an exemption of the requirement of a job offer". In reality, I have a job that I am currently working on and I am seeking a waiver for labor certification (not job offer waiver).

thanks
Ela

You can file for NIW yourself, but you should be ready to explain how the National Interest will suffer if you have to go through labor certification. This question will be asked. In fact I think that the majority of NIW RFE-related questions people ask here are on this issue.
