NIW self-petition - is it job-specific?

I am getting ready to file an NIW (self), and am in the middle of writing up my petition. Other job opportunities may be opening up soon, and am wondering if I should tailor the petition such that it is not specific to my current job. The way it is written now, it describes my current projects and specifically how they qualify in the National Interest.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

FYI: Am a molecular biologist working in a University as a post-doc, but am looking for other positions in industry.

No, it is not. But you must work as a molecular biologist.

Thanks - one more clarification needed

So, should I tailor my petition to describe how my expertise in general is in the National Interest rather than how my current projects are in the National Interest? Or, do I submit it as is right now, and just change jobs without any effect on the petition.

Thank you very much for your response!

got to use all things

because you will need to show that your work as mol. biologist studying xxx has intrinsic merit. secondly your intended area of work has national scope (cannot just make it too generic) and lastly it will be adverse to seek labor cert. for you. this will talk about you and your skills etc.
One thing : getting 140 approved is most important and one has to cover every significant achievement to date whether about you or your project to succeed in getting approval.

ag28, thanks for your reply - can you elaborate ...

on this aspect:

"and lastly it will be adverse to seek labor cert. for you. this will talk about you and your skills etc."

In other words: "It would be adverse to seek labor cert for me because ...... ????"

Thank you for your time.

that is usually the 3rd point

it relates to the nydot rules for niw (for details check this forum). basically if one gets an rfe, then they ask whether/why you should not be aksed to do a LC first. so you got to prove that your skills are more significant rather than advertising for the job for someone else and its important based on what you do that you should get a waiver of job offer. check other sites and this site for criteria for NIW. its several pronged with emphasis on some points.
